Abstract

An extrusion press device includes an extrusion material, an extrusion mechanism extruding the extrusion material by hydraulic pressure, pump units including pumps supplying hydraulic fluid to the extrusion mechanism and motors driving the pumps, and a control device controlling the pump units, in which extrusion press device, in the plurality of pump units provided, the pumps are variable capacity types, correlation is established between a discharge pressure of the pumps and an allowable maximum discharge rate allowed per pumps, a pressure and discharge rate required when extruding the extrusion material by a desired extrusion speed are respectively deemed as the required pressure and required discharge rate, and the control device is made to increase the number of the pumps driven if the required discharge rate corresponding to the required pressure exceeds the allowable maximum discharge rate.
