Continuous casting equipment

• Continuous casting equipment for manufacturing a composite metallic product having a distinct shell and bulk, the shell separated into two parts having different compositions, the compositions being different from a bulk composition of the bulk, the continuous casting equipment comprising:
• a nozzle;
• a tundish;
• and
• a mold;
• the nozzle being located between the tundish and the mold, the nozzle comprising:
• an upper part disposed downstream of the tundish with respect to a direction of travel of a liquid metal,
• a dome disposed at an inlet of the upper part, the dome splitting the initial stream of liquid metal into at least two separate streams;
• an internal wall located below the dome and creating at least two chambers, the separate streams of liquid metal flowing respectively in each of the chambers;
• an injector injecting powder through the dome into at least one of the chambers to allow mixing with the liquid metal flowing into the respective chamber of the chambers,
• a lower part composed of at least two channels an extending from the upper part into the mold and opening into the mold via at least one lateral outlet for each channel of the channels, wherein one of the channels is connected to one of the chambers to allowing the liquid metal to flow into a left part of the mold, and wherein the other of the channels are connected to other chambers of the chambers to allow the liquid metal to flow into a right part of the mold.

• A method of continuous casting of a composite metallic product having a distinct shell and bulk wherein the shell is separated into two parts having different compositions, the compositions being different from a bulk composition of the bulk, the method using the continuous casting equipment as recited in claim 15 and comprising:
• pouring liquid metal into the tundish located above the continuous casting nozzle, the liquid metal flowing from the tundish into the upper part of the casting nozzle creating an initial stream, the initial stream collides onto the dome, thus separating the initial into at least two separate streams, the separate streams flowing into the chambers of the nozzle;
• injecting powder into at least one of the chambers and mixing with the stream of liquid metal flowing into the chamber thus modifying the stream composition, the separate streams being separated into the channels of the lower part of the continuous casting nozzle;
• and
• pouring the liquid metal into the mold, wherein the liquid metal flowing in one channel is poured into the left part of the mold via at least one outlet and the liquid metal flowing into the other channels is poured into the right part of the mold via at least one outlet for each channel.
