Rivet tool having an asymmetric rivet pin collector

A rivet tool, comprising:

• a housing having a front end and a back end;
• a nose piece assembly extending from the front end of the housing, the nose piece assembly including a barrel portion and a nose piece for receiving a rivet having a detachable rivet pin, the barrel portion defining a tool axis that extends from the front end to the back end of the housing;
• a shaft channel extending along the tool axis from the nose piece to a pin outlet disposed in the back end of the housing, the shaft channel configured to guide the rivet pin through the housing following separation of the rivet pin from the rivet;
• and
• an asymmetric pin collector coupled to the back end of the housing, the asymmetric pin collector including a receiving portion generally concentric with the tool axis for receiving the rivet pin from the pin outlet and a pin well extending asymmetrically from the receiving portion for holding the rivet pin received by the receiving portion;
• wherein the asymmetric pin collector is configured to be removably attached to the housing in a plurality of positions so that the pin well is disposed below the receiving portion depending on the orientation of the rivet tool, allowing the rivet pin to drop into the pin well upon being ejected by the pin outlet.
