Abstract

Various embodiments are described herein for an apparatus that implements one or methods for neutralizing odors produced within a composting apparatus. The system may include: a composting chamber configured to receive and decompose organic waste, thereby generating odors; a positive air pressure source configured to circulate air within the composting chamber; an odor destruction unit configured to neutralize odors and one or more air circulation pathways for directing air from the composting chamber to the odor destruction unit. The odor destruction unit comprises at least one of: an activated carbon filter, a manganese dioxide (MnO2) catalyst, a photocatalytic oxidizer, a plasma generator, an ozone generator, a biofilter, or a UV-C sterilizer.

Dependent claims

An odor filtration system for a composting device, comprising:

a composting chamber configured to receive and decompose organic waste;
a positive air pressure source fluidly coupled to the composting chamber and configured to circulate air within the composting chamber;
an odor destruction unit configured to neutralize odors;
one or more air circulation pathways for directing air from the composting chamber to the odor destruction unit;
a plurality of sensors configured to monitor internal conditions within the composting device and collect sensor data;
and
a control unit configured to adjust the operation of the positive air pressure source to adjust airflow through the air circulation pathways based on the sensor data, such that odors generated in the composting chamber are directed to the odor destruction unit by the positive air pressure source.
