A filtration device comprises a vortical filter comprising a first opening, a second opening, a rib, and a cross-flow filtration region between the first opening and the second opening; and a collection unit. The vortical filter is configured to generate vortices in a fluid entering the vortical filter via the first opening and being configured such that filtered fluid exits through a filter media of the cross-flow filtration region. The vortical filter is configured such that fluid containing filtered particles substantially exit the vortical filter at the second opening. The collection unit comprises a collection filtration region configured to receive the fluid containing filtered particles from the second opening and to retain the filtered particles while permitting additional filtered fluid to pass through the collection unit. A percentage of filtered fluid exiting through the filter media of the cross-flow filtration region is in a range between about 60% and 99% after the second fluid filtration cycle.
