Abstract
A golf club head (10) can include a translucent portion (11) having a front face (21) oriented to contact a golf ball (2) and a top face (22) oriented to be viewed by a golfer. A translucent path allows light entering the front face to pass through to the top face. A reflective surface can be formed at a 45 degree angle to both the front and top faces to facilitate such passage. A number of alignment guides (31-34) can provide an iron sight-type visual feedback to the golfer so that the club head can be oriented in the proper position. A highly dense material (40) such as tungsten can be secured to the back end of the head a distance from the front face to improve inertial properties during a swing.
Claims19
A golf club head apparatus comprises:
- a body;
- said body comprising a translucent portion;
- said translucent portion comprising:
- a top face;
- a front face;
- wherein said front face is oriented at an angle with respect to said top face;
- a first light pathway existing between said front face and said top face.
A method for striking a golf ball, said method comprises:
- selecting a golf club having a club head including a translucent portion including an iron sight oriented to provide roll alignment, and a reflective sight through a front face to provide yaw alignment;
- locating said club head at a location not behind said golf ball;
- positioning said club head in roll alignment with an eye of a golfer;
- aligning said club head in a yaw direction to obtain a yaw alignment with a cup on a green of a golfing hole;
- repositioning said club head behind said ball while maintaining said yaw alignment;
- and,
- swinging said club to propel said ball toward said cup.
