Rest assembly for chairs and method for operating such rest assembly

A rest assembly for a chair with a seat portion, the rest assembly comprises:

• a positioning base unit adopted to be arranged to the chair;
• a rest portion;
• and
• a supporting member;
• wherein the positioning base unit comprises an upper part, and a first and second sidewall arranged opposite each other, whereby between the sidewalls, a receiving compartment is arranged,
• wherein the support member comprises a first supporting arm, with a first engagement part in which the first supporting arm is arranged with the rest portion, which first engagement part, being in an active position, is pivotably arranged with the receiving compartment in the positioning base unit, and adopted relative to the positioning base unit to alternate the position of the rest portion between the active position, and a mount and release position, and
• wherein the support member comprises a second supporting arm of which at least one of the supporting arms is resilient, relative to the other supporting arm, to releasably engage with an engagement assembly arranged in the receiving compartment.
