Abstract
A negative electrode active material, a negative electrode comprising the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the same are provided. The negative electrode active material comprises a core including a silicon carbon composite; an oxide layer which is provided on at least a portion of the core and includes silicon oxide, and of which at least 50% has a thickness of greater than 5 nm; and a carbon layer provided on at least a portion of the oxide layer.

A negative electrode active material comprising:
- a core comprising a silicon carbon composite;
- an oxide layer provided on at least a portion of the core and comprising silicon oxide, a thickness of 50% or more of the oxide layer being greater than 5 nm;
- and
- a carbon layer provided on at least a portion of the oxide layer.
