Abstract
A method for preparing an elongate conductor element for a welding process, wherein the elongate conductor element has an electrically conductive core and a coating, and the core contains aluminum, the method including removing the coating within a portion of the elongate conductor element and heating the electrically conductive core by irradiating the portion of the elongate conductor element with a laser beam to form an oxide layer within the portion of the elongate conductor element.

A method for preparing an elongate conductor element for a welding process, wherein the elongate conductor element has an electrically conductive core and a coating, and the core contains aluminum, the method comprising:
- removing the coating within a portion of the elongate conductor element;
- and
- heating the electrically conductive core by irradiating the portion of the elongate conductor element with a laser beam to form an oxide layer within the portion of the elongate conductor element.
