Abstract
An optimized fact checking system analyzes and determines the factual accuracy of information and/or characterizes the information by comparing the information with source information. The optimized fact checking system automatically monitors information, processes the information, fact checks the information in an optimized manner and/or provides a status of the information. In some embodiments, the optimized fact checking system generates, aggregates, and/or summarizes content.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method stored in a non-transitory memory and executed by one or more processors, comprising:
- monitoring digital information comprising at least one of news articles, social-networking content, transcripts, or multimedia content;
- parsing the information into fact-checkable segments based on linguistic structure;
- selectively determining that fewer than all parsed segments qualify for factual verification based on predefined criteria distinguishing factual assertions from non-factual content;
- fact checking each qualifying segment by:
- first comparing the segment against a first-tier source set stored in a local or cache memory using an exact-match comparison;
- conditionally escalating verification to a second-tier source set using pattern-matching analysis when the exact-match comparison fails to meet a confidence threshold;
- and
- further conditionally escalating verification to a third-tier source set using natural-language analysis when the pattern-matching analysis fails to meet the confidence threshold;
- assigning a factual classification to each segment based on cumulative verification results;
- and
- generating new content using only segments assigned a predefined factual classification, wherein excluded segments are not considered during generation.
A system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a non-transitory memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to:
- parse incoming information into fact-checkable segments;
- determine that only a subset of segments require fact checking;
- perform multi-stage fact verification using ordered tiers of source information;
- assign factual classifications to individual segments;
- and
- generate output content using only segments satisfying a factual accuracy criterion.
A device comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a non-transitory memory storing instructions that cause the processor to:
- analyze content to detect factual assertions;
- perform tiered fact verification in response to detected assertions;
- dynamically exclude content segments based on verification outcomes;
- and
- generate content output reflecting only verified assertions.
