Abstract
A fusion splicer according to one embodiment includes an optical fiber holder that holds an optical fiber; a rotation mechanism that rotates the optical fiber holder about a central axis extending along the optical fiber; a clamp portion that is disposed on a side opposite the rotation mechanism with respect to the optical fiber holder, and that presses the optical fiber held by the optical fiber holder; a light source that irradiates the clamp portion with light; and an electric power supply portion that supplies electric power to the light source. A tip of the optical fiber protrudes from the clamp portion. The clamp portion includes a transparent portion that is transparent to the light, and that transmits the light to the optical fiber.
Claims7
A fusion splicer, comprising:
- an optical fiber holder that holds an optical fiber;
- a rotation mechanism that rotates the optical fiber holder about a central axis extending along the optical fiber;
- a clamp portion that is disposed on a side opposite the rotation mechanism with respect to the optical fiber holder in a direction along the central axis, and that presses the optical fiber held by the optical fiber holder;
- a light source that irradiates the clamp portion with light;
- and
- an electric power supply portion that supplies electric power to the light source,
- wherein a tip of the optical fiber protrudes from the clamp portion, and
- the clamp portion includes a transparent portion that is transparent to the light, and that transmits the light to the optical fiber.
