Device Used for Real Time Field Sampling for DNA Extraction

A method comprising:

• collecting one or more samples for extraction of DNA/RNA with at least one or more membrane filter(s);
• wherein each of said one or more membrane filter(s) comprises at least one hollow membrane tube or filament being operable for filtering;
• wherein said at least one hollow membrane tube or filament comprises a unique serial number for identification;
• engaging each of said at least one or more membrane filter(s) with a filter holder;
• determining, with a volume controller, an amount or volume of said one or more samples flowing to said one or more membrane filters;
• preserving each of said one or more membrane filter(s) for extraction of DNA/RNA;
• receiving an input from said volume controller with a first female Luer lock connector;
• and
• engaging at least one waste line with a second female Luer lock connector.

A system comprising of:

• means for collecting one or more samples for extraction of DNA/RNA, each of said one or more sample collecting means comprises one or more hollow membrane tubes or filaments configured to be operable for filtering;
• means for engaging said one or more sample collecting means, wherein each of said one or more sample collecting means further comprises a unique serial number for identification;
• means for pumping or suctioning the one or more samples to said one or more sample collecting means;
• means for controlling a flow of the one or more samples, the one or more samples being transported to said one or more sample collecting means;
• means for determining an amount or volume of the one or more samples flowing to said sample collecting means;
• means for turning an intake dump off and to turn off the flow of one or more samples, once a preprogrammed level of the one or more samples is reached;
• means for preserving the DNA/RNA in the one or more samples;
• means for controlling an operation of at least one of said volume determining means and flow controlling means;
• and
• means for avoiding contamination of one or more collected samples.
