Abstract
The present invention concerns variant subtilisin proteases having improved thermostability and/or kinetic properties compared to wild-type subtilisin. These variant subtilisin proteases have advantageous properties for industrial use.

A variant subtilisin protease that has improved thermostability and/or kcat/Km ratio compared to wild-type subtilisin of Bacillus lentus of sequence SEQ ID NO:
- 2, which comprises an amino acid sequence that differs from said wild-type subtilisin of Bacillus lentus by at least amino acid substitutions at the following positions:
- a) 74, 99, 102, 126, 198, 212, and 254;
- b) 74, 99, 102, 126, 191, 198, 212, and 254;
- or
- c) 74, 97, 126, 204, 254, and 259.
