Abstract
The present disclosure relates to charge transfer oligomers, such as halogenated or ionic charge transfer oligomers (HCTOs/ICTOs), useful as multi-level quantum systems. Provided are compositions comprising non-ionic and ionic organic molecules with accessible multiple quantum states. In addition, also provided are compositions comprising a HCTO/ICTO, such as a conjugated oligoelectrolyte (COE), which is water soluble, and methods of using an example COE in compositions in aqueous and biological applications.
