Abstract
An active material comprising calcium hydroxide immobilized thereon for use in a single stage wastewater treatment for the removal of inorganic contaminants via column filtration. The active material can be a high-surface porous carbonaceous carrier, such a Hunnam biochar. The inorganic contaminants include phosphates and sulfates found in industrial wastewater, particularly wastewater resulting from mining operations.

An active material comprising calcium hydroxide immobilized thereon, said active material utilized in a single stage wastewater treatment for the removal of inorganic contaminants via column filtration.
A single stage wastewater treatment for the removal of inorganic contaminants contained in industrial wastewater comprising passing said industrial wastewater through an active material having calcium hydroxide immobilized thereon via column filtration.
