Abstract
A tire is provided that has crown with an undertread layer that has a recycled portion that includes recycled rubber, and a virgin portion that includes virgin rubber. A cushion layer of the crown has a recycled section that includes recycled rubber and a virgin section that includes virgin rubber. A plurality of belt layers are located between the undertread layer and the cushion layer in the radial direction. The virgin portion engages a first one of the plurality of belts and is located proximate to a first axial end of the first one of the plurality of belts. The virgin section engages a second one of the plurality of belts and is located proximate to a second axial end of the second one of the plurality of belts.
Claims16
A tire that has a central axis, a radial direction, and an axial direction, comprising:
- a crown that has tread that is configured for engaging a road;
- a sidewall that extends from the crown;
- and
- a bead that extends from the sidewall;
- wherein the crown has an undertread layer that has a recycled portion that includes recycled rubber, and wherein the undertread layer has a virgin portion that includes virgin rubber;
- wherein the crown has a cushion layer that has a recycled section that includes recycled rubber, and wherein the cushion layer has a virgin section that includes virgin rubber;
- a plurality of belt layers that are located between the undertread layer and the cushion layer in the radial direction, wherein the virgin portion engages a first one of the plurality of belt layers and is located proximate to a first axial end of the first one of the plurality of belt layers, wherein the virgin section engages a second one of the plurality of belt layers and is located proximate to a second axial end of the second one of the plurality of belt layers.
