Abstract
A system and method for providing real-time, sensory information associated with a remote location using a remote capture device and a head-mounted display. In some embodiments, the system comprises a fiber-optic cable to transmit a signal comprising sensory information collected by the remote capture device to the head-mounted display. Further, the remote capture device may be secured onto a boom of an aerial device.

(canceled)
A method for remote operation in a remote operating environment, the method comprising:
- providing a remote assembly secured to an end of a boom assembly, the remote assembly comprising:
- at least one robotic arm configured for movement within the remote operating environment;
- and
- a remote capture device comprising one or more sensors;
- collecting real-time sensory information associated with the remote operating environment using the one or more sensors of the remote capture device;
- transmitting at least one signal including the real-time sensory information from the remote assembly to a user device disposed in a location separated from the remote operating environment;
- and
- controlling movement of the at least one robotic arm within the remote operating environment based on one or more user inputs received from an input device associated with the user device.
A method for operation within a remote operating environment, the method comprising:
- positioning a remote assembly secured to a boom assembly within the remote operating environment;
- collecting real-time sensory information associated with the remote operating environment using one or more sensors of the remote assembly, the one or more sensors comprising at least one camera, wherein the real-time sensory information includes real-time video data of the remote operating environment;
- transmitting at least one signal including the real-time sensory information from the remote assembly to a user device disposed in a location separated from the remote operating environment;
- and
- controlling movement of at least one robotic arm of the remote assembly within the remote operating environment based on one or more user inputs received from an input device associated with the user device.
A method for remote operation on an energized power line in a remote operating environment, the method comprising:
- positioning a remote assembly within the remote operating environment adjacent to the energized power line, the remote assembly secured to a boom assembly of an aerial device;
- collecting real-time sensory information associated with the remote operating environment using one or more sensors of the remote assembly;
- transmitting at least one signal including the real-time sensory information from the remote assembly to a user device disposed in a location separated from the remote operating environment;
- and
- controlling movement of at least one robotic arm of the remote assembly within the remote operating environment based on one or more user inputs received from an input device associated with the user device.
