Abstract

A power tool comprises a housing and a motor having a drive shaft mounted in the housing. An impact mechanism is mounted in the housing and coupled to a tool holder. The impact mechanism comprises a rotatable hammer operatively connected to the drive shaft and having at least one hammer surface. The impact mechanism also comprises a rotatable anvil connected to the tool holder and having at least one anvil surface configured to be struck by the at least one hammer surface in a direction of rotation. The at least one anvil surface or the at least one hammer surface is moveable with respect to the other of the at least one hammer surface or the at least one anvil surface in a radial direction perpendicular to the direction of rotation.
