Abstract
A deaeration tank includes a top wall, a bottom wall, a first side wall, a second side wall, a cavity, a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and a plurality of support members. The cavity is defined between the top wall, the bottom wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall. The cavity provides a path for fluid to flow between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. Each of the plurality of support members includes a first segment and a second segment. The first segment extends from the first side wall to the second side wall. The second segment extends perpendicularly from the first segment toward the bottom wall such that the support members are configured to direct fluid flowing within the cavity away from the top wall.
Claims20
A coolant tank configured to de-aerate coolant fluid, the coolant tank comprising:
- a first portion having a first portion cavity positioned within a first outer periphery,
- a plurality of first portion support members within the first portion cavity,
- a second portion having a second portion cavity positioned within a second outer periphery,
- a plurality of second portion support members within the second portion cavity, and
- a filter positioned within the first portion cavity such that the plurality of first portion support members extend through the filter,
- wherein, to form the coolant tank, the first portion and the second portion are joined together such that the plurality of first portion support members are joined to the plurality of second portion support members and the first outer periphery is joined to the second outer periphery.
A method of forming a coolant tank configured to de-aerate coolant fluid, the method comprising:
- providing a first portion having a first portion cavity positioned within a first outer periphery and having a plurality of first portion support members within the first portion cavity,
- providing a second portion having a second portion cavity positioned within a second outer periphery and having a plurality of second portion support members within the second portion cavity,
- positioning a filter within the first portion cavity such that the plurality of first portion support members extend through the filter, and
- pressing the first portion and the second portion together, thereby joining the plurality of first portion support members to the plurality of second portion support members and joining the first outer periphery to the second outer periphery, and in doing so, forming the coolant tank.
