Transdermal delivery of beta blockers to treat Infantile Hemangiomas.
Claims20
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a beta blocker or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount effective to treat an infantile hemangioma (IH) by topical application to a surface of the IH;
- and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier,
- wherein the beta blocker or pharmaceutically acceptable salt has a half-life of less than about one hour.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- esmolol or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount effective to treat an infantile hemangioma (IH) by topical application to a surface of the IH;
- and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier,
- wherein the amount of esmolol or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof effective to treat the IH is effective to reach a cumulative skin permeation of esmolol or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof of at least about 3,000 μg/cm2 by twenty-four hours post-application.

- and
- a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier,
- wherein the amount of esmolol or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof effective to treat the IH is effective to reach a cumulative skin permeation of esmolol or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof of at least about 500 μg/cm2 by twenty-four hours post-application.
