Abstract
A method of facilitating a skill learning process or improving performance of a task, comprising: determining a brainwave pattern reflecting neuronal activity of a skilled subject while engaged in a respective skill or task; processing the determined brainwave pattern with at least one automated processor; and subjecting a subject training in the respective skill or task to brain entrainment by a stimulus selected from the group consisting of one or more of a sensory excitation, a peripheral excitation, a transcranial excitation, and a deep brain stimulation, dependent on the processed temporal pattern extracted from brainwaves reflecting neuronal activity of the skilled subject.
Claims20
An apparatus for facilitating a cognitive state, comprising:
- a memory storing a digital code representing a predominant temporal pattern extracted from a reference subject performing a task;
- an input interface configured to receive real-time brainwave signals from a first subject;
- at least one automated processor configured to analyze the real-time brainwave signals with respect to the digital code;
- and
- a stimulator configured to deliver a sensory signal to the first subject modulated based on the digital code and the analysis to induce the predominant temporal pattern in the first subject.
A method for accelerating skill acquisition, comprising:
- recording a task electroencephalography signal of at least one second subject while performing a physical task;
- extracting a predominant temporal pattern associated with the physical task from the recording a reference electroencephalography signal of the at last one second subject;
- encoding the predominant temporal pattern as a digital code stored in a tangible media;
- and
- modulating a sensory signal perceptible to a first subject using the digital code while the first subject is learning the physical task to stimulate brainwaves having the predominant temporal pattern in the first subject.
An apparatus for brainwave entrainment, comprising:
- an audio output device;
- a light emitting device;
- a memory configured to store a digital code representing a predominant temporal pattern extracted from a second subject;
- and
- a controller configured to concurrently deliver a synchronized temporal pulse pattern through the audio output device and the light emitting device,
- wherein the synchronized temporal pulse pattern is modulated by the digital code to induce the predominant temporal pattern in a first subject.
