An implant device configured to be implanted in a human and to wirelessly transmit, to an external computing device at determined times, gathered data, the implant device comprising:
- a plurality of electrodes configured to gather electrical activity data associated with a brain of a user;
- communication circuitry configured to wirelessly communicate with the external computing device;
- a processing device;
- and
- a data storage device configured to temporarily store data and including a computer-readable media storing machine readable instructions that, when executed, cause the processing device to:
- gather, using the electrode, the electrical activity data;
- store, at the data storage device, the electrical activity data;
- and
- determine, based at least on one or more factors contributing to a low packet error rate (PER) for communications between the implant device and the external computing device for a plurality of time periods, a preferred transmission time period of the plurality of time periods during which to transmit the stored electrical activity data to the external computing device.
