A cleaning apparatus includes a supply tank, a recovery tank, a suction source, and a roller tool including a support body defining a wash chamber. A roller is coupled to the support body. A liquid outlet dispenses a liquid from the supply tank into the wash chamber. A tool suction nozzle is fluidly coupled with the suction source such that fluid and debris are drawn with an airflow along a recovery flow path around the roller and to the recovery tank. A tool air inlet is fluidly coupled with the suction source such that air is drawn into the wash chamber through the tool air inlet. An air cushion is disposed within the wash chamber. The air cushion expands and engages a surface of the roller as the air is drawn along a refresh flow path through the tool air inlet and into the air cushion.
