Audio system and method

A method comprising:

• identifying, using an ambience analysis unit, early reflections and reverberation present in a first plurality of audio input signals or in processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals;
• weighting, using a weighting unit, the early reflections identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals, and the reverberation identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals;
• and
• assigning, using a merging unit, the weighted early reflections identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals to a first subset of a second plurality of audio output signals, and assigning, by means of a merging unit, the weighted reverberation identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals to a second subset of the second plurality of audio output signals.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform an audio processing method, the method comprising:

• identify early reflections and reverberation present in a first plurality of audio input signals or in processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals;
• weighting the early reflections identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals, and the reverberation identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals;
• and
• assigning the weighted early reflections identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals to a first subset of a second plurality of audio output signals;
• and
• assigning the weighted reverberation identified in the first plurality of audio input signals or in the processed versions of the first plurality of audio input signals to a second subset of the second plurality of audio output signals.
