Abstract
A media stream is accessed, and a classification model is selected for identifying objects in the media stream. Using the classification model, it is determined whether a content item of interest to the user is currently being received in the media stream. If the content item is currently being received in the media stream, at least a portion of the content item is recorded from the media stream. If the content item is not currently being received, then recording is paused or delayed until it is determined that the content item is being received.

(canceled)
A method comprising:
- receiving, at a media processing server, a media stream from a media source;
- transmitting the media stream from the media processing server to a client device;
- identifying a content type of the media stream based at least in part on a portion of the media stream;
- selecting, based on the identified content type, a classification model from a plurality of classification models, wherein each classification model of the plurality of classification models is trained to recognize objects specific to media content of a different respective content type;
- applying the selected classification model to the media stream to identify at least one object in the media stream;
- generating metadata describing the at least one identified object, wherein the metadata comprises at least an identifier of the at least one identified object and a playback position within the media stream at which the at least one identified object appears;
- transmitting the generated metadata to the client device separate from the media stream and separate from any instruction corresponding to recording of the media stream;
- and
- causing the client device, based on a determination made by the client device by comparing the at least one identified object to a profile of a user of the client device, to initiate recording of a content item from the media stream.
A system comprising:
- input/output circuitry configured to:
- receive, at a media processing server, a media stream from a media source;
- control circuitry configured to:
- transmit the media stream from the media processing server to a client device;
- identify a content type of the media stream based at least in part on a portion of the media stream;
- select, based on the identified content type, a classification model from a plurality of classification models, wherein each classification model of the plurality of classification models is trained to recognize objects specific to media content of a different respective content type;
- apply the selected classification model to the media stream to identify at least one object in the media stream;
- generate metadata describing the at least one identified object, wherein the metadata comprises at least an identifier of the at least one identified object and a playback position within the media stream at which the at least one identified object appears;
- transmit the generated metadata to the client device separate from the media stream and separate from any instruction corresponding to recording of the media stream;
- and
- cause the client device, based on a determination made by the client device by comparing the at least one identified object to a profile of a user of the client device, to initiate recording of a content item from the media stream.
