Abstract
A receiving network device obtains a command built to enable a control program of a device coupled to the receiving network device to obtain link feature data of a link coupled to one port of a network device and another port of another network device. The command includes an indication of the one port and the other port coupled to the link for which link feature data is to be obtained. The receiving network device obtains the link feature data of the link coupled to the one port and the other port indicated by the command and provides a response to the request for the link feature data of the link.
Claims20
A computer program product comprising:
- a set of one or more computer-readable storage media;
- and
- program instructions, collectively stored in the set of one or more computer-readable storage media, for causing at least one device to perform computer operations including:
- obtaining, by a receiving network device, a command built to enable a control program of a device coupled to the receiving network device to request link feature data of a link coupled to one port of a network device and another port of another network device, the command including an indication of the one port and the another port coupled to the link for which link feature data is to be obtained;
- obtaining, by the receiving network device, the link feature data of the link coupled to the one port and the another port indicated by the command;
- and
- providing, by the receiving network device, a response to the request for the link feature data of the link.
A computer system comprising:
- at least one device;
- a set of one or more computer-readable storage media;
- and
- program instructions, collectively stored in the set of one or more computer-readable storage media, for causing the at least one device to perform computer operations including:
- obtaining, by a receiving network device, a command built to enable a control program of a device coupled to the receiving network device to request link feature data of a link coupled to one port of a network device and another port of another network device, the command including an indication of the one port and the another port coupled to the link for which link feature data is to be obtained;
- obtaining, by the receiving network device, the link feature data of the link coupled to the one port and the another port indicated by the command;
- and
- providing, by the receiving network device, a response to the request for the link feature data of the link.
A computer-implemented method of facilitating processing within a computing environment, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- obtaining, by a receiving network device, a command built to enable a control program of a device coupled to the receiving network device to request link feature data of a link coupled to one port of a network device and another port of another network device, the command including an indication of the one port and the another port coupled to the link for which link feature data is to be obtained;
- obtaining, by the receiving network device, the link feature data of the link coupled to the one port and the another port indicated by the command;
- and
- providing, by the receiving network device, a response to the request for the link feature data of the link.
