System and method for security key generation and equipment validation

A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:

• requesting a security token from a secure element embedded in a user equipment, wherein the secure element receives parameters through a secure channel from a network security engine residing in a core network and generates the security token based on information and executable instructions stored by the secure element and the parameters received from the network security engine;
• receiving a corresponding security token from the network security engine, wherein the network security engine is configured to maintain a copy of the information and the executable instructions for independently generating a corresponding security token;
• and
• ensuring that the security token received from the secure element and the corresponding security token received from the network security engine match, thereby authenticating the user equipment.

A method,

• comprising:
• requesting, by a processing system including a processor, a security token from a secure element embedded in a user equipment, wherein the secure element receives parameters through a secure channel from a network security engine residing in a core network and generates the security token based on information and executable instructions stored by the secure element and the parameters received from the network security engine;
• receiving, by the processing system, a corresponding security token from the network security engine, wherein the network security engine is configured to maintain a copy of the information and the executable instructions for independently generating a corresponding security token;
• and
• ensuring, by the processing system, that the security token received from the secure element and the corresponding security token received from the network security engine match, thereby authenticating the user equipment.
