Abstract
A combination of two or more similar handheld electronic devices designed to be stackable, each handheld electronic device comprising a chassis with at least one processor, a touch screen covering all or part of a chassis front side, and wireless means of communication. Each device is configured to, when stacked with at least one other similar device and at the top of the stack, establish communication with the similar device in the stack, receive information from the device in the stack, and display the information on the touch screen.
Claims18
A combination of at least two similar handheld electronic devices designed to be stackable, each device comprising:
- a chassis in which at least one processor is arranged,
- a touch screen covering all or part of a front side of the chassis, and
- wireless means of communication,
- wherein each device is configured to switch automatically or in response to an action by a user, into a stacked mode of operation, and, in the stacked mode of operation, when a first device is stacked with a second similar device to form a stack and is at a top of the stack, establish communication with the similar device present in the stack, receive information provided by the device present in the stack, and display the information on the touch screen.
A method for the joint use of two or more similar handheld electronic devices, each device comprising a chassis in which at least one processor is arranged, a touch screen covering all or part of a front panel of the chassis, and wireless communication means, the method comprising:
- a step of stacking the two electronic devices to form a stack, and
- a step to configure each device so that the device switches automatically or in response to an action from a user, into a stacked mode of operation, and, in the stacked mode of operation, if the device is at a top of the stack, establishes communication with the other device, receives information from the other device and displays the information on its touch screen.
