An electric machine may have an integrated rotor mechanically coupled with a shaft. The integrated rotor may include an axial rotor component mechanically integrated with a radial rotor component to have a common angular velocity. The integrated rotor may also include a wound rotor component. The electric machine may further include a stator assembly that may include an axial stator component, a radial stator component, and a transition stator component arranged at a first angle with respect to the axial stator component and at a second angle with respect to the radial stator component. The electric machine may include an integrated stator winding mechanically coupled with the radial stator, axial stator and transitional stator component. The electric machine may further include a field winding mechanically coupled with the integrated rotor and configured to magnetically interact with the transition stator component.
