Side lobe mitigation via antenna array training

A method of wireless communication at a network entity, comprising:

• receiving, from a network device and based on a set of training symbols, a first transmission of a first set of beam weights associated with a first subset of randomized antenna elements of the network device;
• receiving, from the network device and based on the set of training symbols, a second transmission of a second set of beam weights associated with a second subset of randomized antenna elements of the network device that is different from the first subset of randomized antenna elements;
• and
• communicating with the network device based on a side lobe level associated with measurements of the first transmission and the second transmission and via the first subset of randomized antenna elements and the second subset of randomized antenna elements.

A computer-readable medium storing computer executable code at a network entity, the code when executed by at least one processor causes the at least one processor to:

• receive, from a network device and based on a set of training symbols, a first transmission of a first set of beam weights associated with a first subset of randomized antenna elements of the network device;
• receive, from the network device and based on the set of training symbols, a second transmission of a second set of beam weights associated with a second subset of randomized antenna elements of the network device that is different from the first subset of randomized antenna elements;
• and
• communicate with the network device based on a side lobe level associated with measurements of the first transmission and the second transmission and via the first subset of randomized antenna elements and the second subset of randomized antenna elements.
