Apparatus and method generating medical image

A medical image generation apparatus comprising:

• a projection data acquisition unit configured to acquire projection data of a subject;
• a first medical image generation unit configured to generate, by using the projection data, a first Computed Tomography (CT) image of the subject and to generate a first cross-sectional image and a second cross-sectional image that are perpendicular to each other from the first CT image;
• a region-of-interest selection unit configured to receive a region of interest of a user on the first cross-sectional image and the second cross-sectional image;
• a second medical image generation unit configured to generate a second CT image of the region of interest by using the projection data;
• and
• a display unit configured to display at least one selected from the first cross-sectional image, the second cross-sectional image, the region of interest of the user, and the second CT image on a screen,
• wherein a resolution of the second CT image is higher than a resolution of the first CT image.
