A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for executing a real-time transaction, the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, causing the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, at an application programing interface (API) system and from a computing device, an electronic transaction request associated with a user and a receipt date;
- transmitting, by the API system, an internal API call to an authorization system associated with the API system to verify that the user has permission to process the electronic transaction request;
- receiving, by the API system and from the authorization system, an authorization response authorizing the electronic transaction request based on the internal API call to the authorization system;
- in response to receiving the authorization response, determining, by the API system, a value associated with the electronic transaction request;
- determining, by the API system and without input from the user or a target recipient, a threshold settlement date by which the electronic transaction request is required to be processed for a recipient account associated with the target recipient using electronic communication data associated with the user and the target recipient, wherein the electronic communication data is captured via the API system;
- comparing, by the API system, the value associated with the electronic transaction request to a predetermined threshold;
- determining, by the API system and based on the comparing, that each transaction processing network of a plurality of transaction processing networks is a certified transaction network enabled to process the value of the electronic transaction request;
- determining, by the API system, a processing time for each transaction processing network;
- determining, by the API system, an optimal transaction processing network of the plurality of transaction processing networks based on the determined processing time and the threshold settlement date;
- and
- processing, by the API system, the electronic transaction request via the optimal transaction processing network.
