Abstract
An information handling system camera coupled by a bracket to a display in a first position outside of a perimeter of the display panel and slides a forward housing portion in toward the display panel to a second position that activates the camera to capture visual images. The forward housing portion has a lens and image sensor that interfaces through a flexible cable with an image processor of rearward housing portion. A shutter in the forward housing portion automatically blocks the lens in the first position and slides to unblock the lens in the second position.
Claims20
An information handling system comprising:
- a processor operable to execute instructions to process information;
- a memory interfaced with the processor and operable to store the instructions and information;
- a display interfaced with the processor and operable to present the information as visual images;
- and
- a camera coupled to a perimeter of the display and interfaced with the processor, the camera having a housing with first and second portions, the first housing portion engaged with the second housing portion, the first housing portion containing a lens aligned with an image sensor and a shutter, the first housing portion moving relative to the second housing portion from a first position to a second position, the shutter aligning with the lens in the first position to block capture of visual images and misaligning with the lens in the second position to allow capture of visual images.
A method for securing a camera, the method comprising:
- coupling a lens and image sensor in a first housing portion;
- aligning the first housing portion and second housing portion in a first position;
- in response to the aligning, blocking the lens with a shutter;
- sliding the first housing portion relative to the second housing portion to a second position having the first and second housing portions misaligned;
- and
- in response to the sliding, unblocking the lens with the shutter.
A camera comprising:
- a housing having a first housing portion engaged with a second housing portion;
- a lens coupled in the first housing portion;
- an image sensor coupled in the first housing portion and aligned with the lens;
- an image processor coupled in the second housing portion;
- and
- a shutter, the first housing portion moving relative to the second housing portion from a first position to a second position, the shutter aligning with the lens in the first position to block capture of visual images and misaligning with the lens in the second position to allow capture of visual images.
