Abstract
A map processing device according to the present invention includes a map data prefetching unit that can acquire a plurality of types of map data including lane connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane sections in an extending direction of a lane and lane group connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane group sections in an extending direction of a lane group including one or more lanes, wherein when acquiring map data of a predetermined point in front of a host vehicle from the plurality of types of map data, the map data prefetching unit acquires the map data of a type according to a condition of the predetermined point.

A map processing device comprising a map data prefetching unit that can acquire a plurality of types of map data including lane connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane sections in an extending direction of a lane and lane group connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane group sections in an extending direction of a lane group including one or more lanes, wherein when acquiring map data of a predetermined point in front of a host vehicle from the plurality of types of map data, the map data prefetching unit acquires the map data of a type according to a condition of the predetermined point;

- the condition of the predetermined point is whether the predetermined point is a point on a scheduled travel route of the host vehicle, and
- the map data prefetching unit acquires the lane connectivity data when the predetermined point is a point on the scheduled travel route of the host vehicle, and acquires the lane group connectivity data when the predetermined point is a point on a route branching from the scheduled travel route of the host vehicle.

A map processing method comprising, with a map processing device including a map data prefetching unit capable of acquiring a plurality of types of map data including lane connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane sections in an extending direction of a lane and lane group connectivity data indicating connectivity information between lane group sections in an extending direction of a lane group including one or more lanes, when the map data prefetching unit acquires map data of a predetermined point in front of a host vehicle from the plurality of types of map data, acquiring the map data of a type according to a condition of the predetermined point;

- the condition of the predetermined point is whether the predetermined point is a point on a scheduled travel route of the host vehicle, and
- the map data prefetching unit acquires the lane connectivity data when the predetermined point is a point on the scheduled travel route of the host vehicle, and acquires the lane group connectivity data when the predetermined point is a point on a route branching from the scheduled travel route of the host vehicle.
