Abstract
A cable sleeve for use with a safety cable for a fall protection system is presented. The cable sleeve is designed for secure attachment between a safety worker and a vertical lifeline such as those commonly found along a ladder. The cable sleeve includes a bi-directional locking mechanism, designed to lock the cable sleeve in place relative to the safety cable in case of a fall, or when the worker panics during a fall, as well as a dual-action locking cover to prevent the cable sleeve from inadvertently disconnecting from the safety cable. An anti-inversion safety feature and other visual safety indicators are also disclosed.
Claims10
A cable sleeve for connecting a safety harness to a safety cable for use in a personal fall arrest system, the cable sleeve comprising:
- a chassis;
- an anti-panic cam mechanism attached to an activation arm mechanism for attachment to a safety harness;
- and
- a dual-action safety mechanism to release the cable sleeve from the safety cable,
- wherein the activation arm is configured for attachment to one or more cable engagement cams so that upward and downward movement of the anti-panic cam causes the one or more cable engagement cams to engage the safety cable thereby locking the cable sleeve in place relative to the safety cable in the case of a downward fall or upward panic motion.
