Abstract

A control device that controls a vehicle capable of traveling by driving a drive wheel with an output of an engine includes a processor configured to limit a maximum output of the engine to a predetermined limit value, acquire information indicating a current position of the vehicle, and determine whether the processor can release limitation on the maximum output based on the information indicating the current position acquired by the processor. The processor determines that the limitation can be released when the current position is determined to be within a predetermined area, and determines that the limitation cannot be released when the current position is determined to be outside the predetermined area. When the processor determines that the limitation can be released, the processor releases the limitation and increases the maximum output to a value larger than the limit value.
