System for visual light communication and related methods

A system, comprising:

• a light transmitter operable when completely submerged in water of a pool, the light transmitter configured to generate a light signal having encoded therein information;
• a light sensor operable when completely submerged in the water of the pool, the light sensor configured to receive a transmitted light signal;
• and
• one or more computer processors configured to decode and demodulate the light signal into an electronic signal and to encode and modulate the electronic signal into executable instructions that cause a mechanical or electrical action of a pool device in the pool,
• wherein light transmitter includes a controller that includes signal processing instructions that operate signal transmission between the light transmitter and the light sensor,
• wherein the system is configured to react to presence of an object in the pool.

A system, comprising:

• a light assembly having a light transmitter configured to generate a light signal, a receiver for receiving the light signal or another light signal, and a control device configured control operation of the light transmitter and the receiver.
• a pool device operable in water in a pool and configured to perform at least one mechanical action when submerged in the water in the pool;
• and
• at least one control device electronically coupled or associated with the pool device, the at least one control device configured to cause a mechanical action of the pool device in response to information encoded in the light signal or the another light signal.

A system, comprising:

• a light transmitter configured to emit a light signal and operable when completely submerged in water of a pool;
• a light sensor operable within when completely submerged in water of the pool and configured to receive at least one light signal from at least one light source or the light transmitter, wherein the light sensor is configured to convert the at least one light signal into an electronic signal having encoded therein information;
• a power source;
• a pool vacuum;
• and
• one or more computer processors electronically coupled to the light sensor and the light transmitter, the one or more computer processors configured cause a mechanical or electrical action of the pool vacuum.

A system, comprising:

• a light transceiver configured to generate a light signal, wherein the light transceiver is configured to transmit the light signal up to about 10 meters when fully or partially submerged in fluid in a pool and for receiving the light signal or another light signal,
• a pool device;
• and
• one or more computer processors electronically coupled to the light transceiver, the one or more computer processors configured cause a mechanical or electrical action of the pool device based on information encoded in the light signal.

A system, comprising:

• a light transmitter configured to emit a light signal when submerged in water in a pool;
• a first controller configured to encode information into the light signal and modulate the light signal;
• a light receiver configured to receive the light signal or another light signal in the water of the pool;
• and
• a second controller configured to demodulate the light signal and decode the information in the light signal or the another light signal, wherein
• the information decoded includes original coded information and indirect information from an object in the water of the pool and one or more environmental factors that has an effect on the light signal, wherein
• one or more environmental factors include at least one of wavelength attenuation, absorption, or turbidity in a fluid medium, wherein
• a pool device is controllable based in whole or in part on the information decoded by the first controller.
