Abstract
A structured MAX-phase particle having the elementary formula Mn+1AXn (I), wherein “M” corresponds to at least one transition metal, “A” is an A-group element, “X” is C or CN, and “n” is equal to 1, 2, 3 or 4, wherein said MAX-phase structured particle has, at least partially, a defined shape.

A method to obtain structured MAX-phase particles having the elementary formula Mn+1AXn (I), wherein “M” corresponds to a transition metal, “A” is an A-group element, “X” is C or CN, and “n” is equal to 1, 2, 3 or 4, said method comprising the steps of:
- a providing a mixture of M, A and a structured precursor comprising, consisting of, or consisting essentially of, C;
- b) submitting said mixture to a heating step at a temperature ranging from 600° C. to 1200° C., to obtain structured MAX-phase particles;
- c) cooling said MAX-phase particles;
- and
- d) eventually, removing impurities.
