Storage system

A storage system comprising:

• an overhead transport vehicle configured to convey an article along a track provided on a ceiling;
• a storage device provided with a plurality of movable shelf plates onto which the article can be transferred by the overhead transport vehicle stopped at a predetermined position in the track and which are arranged in a vertical direction;
• a first communication device provided in the overhead transport vehicle;
• a second communication device provided in the overhead transport vehicle;
• a third communication device capable of communicating with the first communication device;
• and
• a fourth communication device capable of communicating with the second communication device,
• wherein
• the overhead transport vehicle transmits designation information for designating the movable shelf plate to which the article is to be transferred to the fourth communication device via the second communication device,
• the storage device advances the movable shelf plate designated by the designation information received via the fourth communication device to a position where the article can be transferred by the overhead transport vehicle, and
• the overhead transport vehicle transfers the article to the movable shelf plate which has been advanced to the position where the article can be transferred while performing communication processing for transferring the article to the movable shelf plate designated by the designation information between the first communication device and the third communication device.
