Abstract

A flame mitigator for a container includes a plurality of wire portions reticulated to define a plurality of spaces therebetween and form a body having a substantially dome-shaped profile extending along a longitudinal axis between a first end and an opposite second end, and a rim positioned adjacent the first end and defining an opening of the body. The plurality of spaces collectively provide an openness of the opening to inhibit flame propagation along a fluid stream from entering into the container. The flame mitigator further includes a projection extending radially outward from the rim and defining a periphery of the body, and a well extending radially inward and longitudinally away from the rim to the second end. The projection is elastically deformable and configured to deflect relative to the rim.

Dependent claims

A flame mitigator for a container comprising:

a plurality of wire portions reticulated to define a plurality of spaces therebetween and form a body having a substantially dome-shaped profile extending along a longitudinal axis between a first end and an opposite second end;
a rim positioned adjacent the first end and defining an opening of the body, the plurality of spaces collectively providing an openness of the opening to inhibit flame propagation along a fluid stream from entering into the container;
a projection extending radially outward from the rim and defining a periphery of the body, the projection being elastically deformable and configured to deflect relative to the rim;
and
a well extending radially inward and longitudinally away from the rim to the second end.
