In the case of a container neck comprising a cylindrical wall which extends around a reference axis of the container neck and has an upper edge enclosing an opening of the container neck, and in the case of said container neck comprising an external thread which projects radially outward from the cylindrical wall and has an upper turn which faces the upper edge and comprises an end section of the thread, wherein the container neck has catches extending axially between the upper edge and the upper turn of the thread and extending radially inward from the cylindrical wall, which catches are distributed circumferentially and each have a catch surfacedirected against an unscrewing direction of the thread, it is proposed that one or more of the catches be provided as locking catches which have a lower end that is further away from the upper edge in the axial direction than the end section of the thread.
