Abstract
A replacement or retrofit power mirror assembly configured to attach to an existing mirror assembly and including an intelligent electronic suite allowing for the automatic reestablishment of a mirror position after the sensing of an external disturbance. The retrofit power mirror assembly may include a customized bracket designed around existing non-powered mirror systems.
Claims11
A retrofittable powered mirror assembly, comprising:
- a mechanical attachment system configured for being externally mounted to an existing vehicle mirror assembly so as to secure the powered mirror assembly thereto;
- a mechanical adjustment mechanism for adjusting an angle of an existing mirror of the existing vehicle mirror assembly in response to an adjustment signal received from a driver operable device to provide thereby a baseline angle of the mirror;
- one or more tilt sensors for sensing an angle of the mirror;
- and
- a processor, coupled to the one or more tilt sensors and the mechanical adjustment mechanism, for adjusting the angle of the mirror from a sensed mirror angle to the baseline mirror angle in response to determining that a difference between the sensed angle of the mirror and the baseline angle of the mirror is due to an uncommanded change.
