Abstract
A tire comprising a tread comprising a main composite material which is of unitary molded construction and which comprises a thermoplastic polymer matrix and a textile reinforcement assembly. The main composite material may form at least 80% by mass of the tread. The textile reinforcement assembly may comprise at least two textile layers.
Claims37
A tire comprising a tread, wherein said tread comprises a main composite material (30) which is of unitary molded construction and which comprises a thermoplastic polymer matrix and a textile reinforcement assembly.
A method of manufacturing a tire, wherein the method comprises the steps of:
- a) preparing a multilayer assembly comprising at least one hot-meltable textile part and at least one non-hot-meltable textile part;
- b) thermocompressing said multilayer assembly with a mold configured to at least partially mold a tread of a tire by heating said multilayer assembly to melt said hot-meltable textile part;
- and
- c) obtaining a main composite material of unitary molded construction comprising a thermoplastic polymer matrix and a textile reinforcement assembly, said composite material at least partially forming the tread of a tire.
A method of recycling a tire, the method comprising:
- milling at least one tire to obtain milled particles or fragments;
- transforming the obtained milled particles or fragments into granules for transformation by a transformation process for a heated plastic, said transformation process for heated plastic comprising an extrusion-granulation.
