Centrifuge and method for operating this centrifuge

• A centrifuge (10), comprising
• a housing (14),
• a rotor for receiving sample containers,
• a drive for driving the rotor,
• a rotor chamber within the housing (14), wherein the rotor chamber is delimited in some areas by a safety vessel (18) and in which the rotor is mounted,
• a control unit (38) for controlling the drive for carrying out a centrifuge operation for samples in a sample container of the rotor,
• a lid (12) for closing the rotor chamber for centrifuge operation,
• an operating unit (16) that is provided with a display (26) for displaying different parameters for centrifuge operation, and
• at least one input means (22, 24, 26) for entering the parameters for centrifuge operation and/or for selecting parameters and/or programs for centrifuge operation stored in the operating unit (16),
• wherein the selected parameters and/or programs are transmitted from the operating unit (16) to the control unit (38),
• the control unit (38) is connected for signaling to at least one lid switch (36), the lid switch (36) can be activated, upon closure of the lid (12), when the lid (12) is in its closed state, and
• wherein, when the lid switch (36) is activated, the control unit (38) activates the drive of the rotor for centrifuge operation in accordance with the parameters last entered into the operating unit (16) and/or in accordance with the program last selected, when certain further basic parameters are met.
