Medicament delivery device

A medicament delivery device for injecting medicament, wherein the medicament delivery device comprises:

• a body having (i) a proximal end and a distal end defining a longitudinal axis, and (ii) a radially-extending surface oriented at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the body and directly contacted with and fixed to an inner surface of the body;
• a needle;
• an actuation member movable relative to the body from a first position to a second position for dispensing the medicament via the needle, wherein the actuation member comprises a first axially-extending component that is deflectable in a radially inward direction and configured to engage the radially-extending surface when the actuation member is in the first position, and wherein the radially-extending surface is fixed to the body when the actuation member moves relative to the body from the first position to the second position;
• a cap removably attached to the medicament delivery device, and a second axially-extending component configured to engage the first axially-extending component on a side opposite to the radially-extending surface along a transverse axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis when the cap is attached to the medicament delivery device, thereby preventing movement of the actuation member from the first position to the second position.

A method of preparing a medicament delivery device for use prior to dispensing a medicament from the medicament delivery device, the method comprising:

• removing a cap from the medicament delivery device, wherein the cap is configured to prevent movement of an actuation member of the medicament delivery device from a first position to a second position when the cap is attached to the medicament delivery device,
• wherein the medicament delivery device comprises:
• a body having (i) a proximal end and a distal end defining a longitudinal axis, and (ii) a radially-extending surface oriented at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the body and directly contacted with and fixed to an inner surface of the body;
• a needle;
• the actuation member movable relative to the body from the first position to the second position for dispensing the medicament via the needle, wherein the actuation member comprises a first axially-extending component that is deflectable in a radially inward direction and configured to engage the radially-extending surface when the actuation member is in the first position, and wherein the radially-extending surface is fixed to the body when the actuation member moves relative to the body from the first position to the second position;
• the cap;
• and
• a second axially-extending component configured to engage the first axially-extending component on a side opposite to the radially-extending surface along a transverse axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis when the cap is attached to the medicament delivery device, thereby preventing movement of the actuation member from the first position to the second position.

A method of using a medicament delivery device, the method comprising:

• removing a cap from the medicament delivery device, wherein the cap is configured to prevent movement of an actuation member of the medicament delivery device from a first position to a second position when the cap is attached to the medicament delivery device;
• and
• moving the actuation member from the first position to the second position for dispensing the medicament from the medicament delivery device,
• wherein the medicament delivery device comprises:
• a body having (i) a proximal end and a distal end defining a longitudinal axis, and (ii) a radially-extending surface oriented at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the body and directly contacted with and fixed to an inner surface of the body;
• a needle;
• the actuation member comprising a first axially-extending component that is deflectable in a radially inward direction and configured to engage the radially-extending surface when the actuation member is in the first position, and wherein the radially-extending surface is fixed to the body when the actuation member moves relative to the body from the first position to the second position;
• the cap;
• and
• a second axially-extending component configured to engage the first axially-extending component on a side opposite to the radially-extending surface along a transverse axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis when the cap is attached to the medicament delivery device, thereby preventing movement of the actuation member from the first position to the second position.
