Methods and apparatuses for noninvasive, continuous blood pressure estimation using one or more pressure sensors integrated into footwear, such as slippers, shoes, insoles, or padded socks. The sensors measure time-varying plantar pressure signals that include both weight-bearing and cardiovascular components. When a wearer stands or walks, the body weight load compresses underlying plantar arteries against the sensor surface, creating an oscillometric interaction between externally applied mechanical pressure and internal arterial blood pressure. Signal processing extracts blood-pressure-induced pulsatile modulations from the measured plantar pressure signal and estimates systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and mean arterial pressure by analyzing the envelope of these modulations as a function of the applied weight-bearing pressure. The system operates passively and continuously without an inflatable cuff, without requiring user intervention, and without interrupting the wearer's daily activities.
