Abstract
Disclosed is a dishwasher which is configured to generate a plurality of washing water heating modes using a heat pump module, a washing water heater or a combination thereof as a heating source according to user intent prioritizing power saving or user intent prioritizing time saving, and allow a user to freely select one therefrom, thereby providing various selection options for the washing water heating mode.

A dishwasher according to
- a tub having a washing space defined therein and accommodating dishes therein;
- a sump storing therein washing water to be supplied to the tub;
- a washing pump configured to pressurize washing water to be supplied to the tub;
- a washing water heater for heating the washing water to be supplied to the sump, wherein the washing water heater is an electric heater;
- and
- a heat pump module for heating the washing water to be supplied to the sump,
- wherein at least one of the heat pump module or the washing water heater is selected as a heating source for heating the washing water, based on a washing water heating mode for the washing water.

A dishwasher comprising:
- a tub having a washing space defined therein and accommodating dishes therein;
- a sump storing therein washing water to be supplied to the tub;
- a heat pump module for heating the washing water to be supplied to the sump;
- and
- a washing water heater for heating the washing water to be supplied to the sump, wherein the washing water heater is an electric heater,
- wherein whether to operate the washing water heater, a time point at which the operation of the washing water heater is started, and a time point at which the operation thereof is stopped are set to vary, based on a washing water heating mode for the washing water.
