- a bootie configured to enclose a wearer's foot, wherein the bootie comprises a lower portion configured to be arranged below the wearer's foot, and an upper portion configured to at least partially cover the wearer's foot;
- a midsole having an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein at least a portion of the upper surface of the midsole is secured to the lower portion of the bootie;
- an outsole secured to the lower surface of the midsole;
- a knit upper secured to the upper portion of the bootie such that the knit upper covers an exterior surface of the upper portion of the bootie, wherein a perimeter edge of the knit upper is secured between the midsole and the outsole;
- and
- a recessed slot extending inwardly from an outer edge of the midsole, wherein the recessed slot is defined by a portion of the upper surface of the midsole inward of the outer edge of the midsole and the lower portion of the bootie,

A method for manufacturing an article of footwear, comprising:
- securing at least a portion of a midsole having an upper surface and a lower surface to a lower portion of a bootie, wherein the bootie is configured to enclose a wearer's foot, wherein the bootie comprises the lower portion configured to be arranged below the wearer's foot, and an upper portion configured to at least partially cover the wearer's foot;
- securing an outsole to the lower surface of the midsole;
- securing a knit upper to the upper portion of the bootie such that the knit upper covers an exterior surface of the upper portion of the bootie;
- securing a perimeter edge of the knit upper between the midsole and the outsole;
- forming a recessed slot that extends inwardly from an outer edge of the midsole by attaching the bootie to the upper surface of the midsole at a point inward of the outer edge of the upper surface of the midsole, such that the recessed slot is defined by a portion of the upper surface of the midsole inward of the outer edge of the midsole and the lower portion of the bootie;
- and
- arranging the knit upper such that the knit upper extends into the recessed slot and contours to the upper surface of the midsole and the lower portion of the bootie.
