A component for use in an aerosol provision system includes a section having a length and a width and comprising one or more portions of gathered sheet material defining a plurality of passages extending through the length of the section. The pressure drop through the length of the section can be less than about 30 mmH20. The one or more portions of the gathered sheet material can have a combined extended width of between 5 and 30 times an inner diameter of the section. A coating can be provided on the surface of at least one of the one or more portions of gathered sheet material, where the coating can be a polymer, a resin, an adhesive or a polysaccharide. The section can have a hardness of at least 90%.
