Abstract
Animal feed compositions for reducing methane emission and/or for inhibiting one or more methane producing organisms (i.e., methanogens). Also included are the use of said compositions to reduce methane emission from animals such as ruminant animals, to inhibit methanogenesis by one or more methanogens in said animals, and/or to increase milk yield and/or body weight gain of said animals is described, as well as related methods.

A composition comprising a trihalomethane other than dibromochloromethane and at least one other compound selected from dibromochloromethane, dibromomethane, diallyl disulfide, diallyl trisulfide, dimethyl disulfide, dipropyl disulfide, prenylnaringenin, bavachin, bavachinin, corylifol, morusin, isobavachalcone, naringenin, quercetin, xanthohumol, tannic acid, cinnamon bark oil, garlic oil, sandalwood oil, thyme red oil, lemongrass oil, lemon verbena oil, carvacrol, citral, cinnamaldehyde, hexylcinnamaldehyde, sclareol, saikosaponin, ursolic acid, ginsenoside, dibromoacetic acid, 3-nitrooxypropanol, pyromellitic diimide, and any combination thereof.
